bIOGRAPHY Born in Philadelphia, Tu Quyen moved with her family to Texas and later California. She attended the University of Long Beach where Tu Quyen caught her big break when she was spotted by Calvin Tuan, producer of Eagle Production, during her performance with Ryan & Hanson Truong for the Vietnamese Student Union of the school. In 1995, Tu Quyen made her debut in the Viet entertainment scene with her appearnce in Tinh: Que Huong & Tuoi Tre 1 with her first hit "Nu Hong Mong Manh." Tu Quyen's role as a desperate lover of an estranged gang member appealed to many of the younger Vietnamese generation and made her an icon in the Vietnamese community. Because Tu Quyen was still in college at the time, she did not focus much on her career. It wasn't until two years later, when the sequel to "Nu Hong Mong Manh," "Nhung Loi Doi Gian," was released that her singing career really took off. Since then recorded hundreds of songs for all of the major Vietnamese Productions and a few minor ones including: Thuy Nga, Asia, Van Son, Tinh, May, Hoai Linh, Bien Tinh, & Ca Giao. But even after the numerous hits, her favorite song remained "Nu Hong Mong Manh" since it was hit that made her fans fell in love with her. In fact, Tu Quyen even got a tatoo of a red rose on her back dedicated to her fans.
